Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] madmoisellestar!

In other news,

1. I'm way more tired than I have any right to be this morning,

2. the weather is nice enough today that we have the front door wide open, which only makes me want to be outside instead of stuck in here,

3. and I'm still depressed about Doctor Who. You know how when you're right in the thick of an obsession with a show or a 'ship and every song you hear is about that thing? Yeah, I've currently appropriated three or four Decemberists songs just for the Doctor and Rose. So. Yeah. I wish I'd watched this with everyone else now, if only so I'd have someone to be depressed with at the moment. :p

It's Wednesday, which means I have to work tonight, which sucks, but it also means I'll have Project Runway waiting for me when I get home, which doesn't suck. My mantra this week is just-make-it-to-Saturday. I just had a blissful day of sitting around in my pjs doing nothing, but I already feel like I need another break. I think maybe I just need a real change, a break in routine. I hate routine. I think really I should quit Barnes & Noble, I've been there way too long as it is. Although, I don't know if just changing second jobs is really going to help much at all.

It's Steph's birthday!

Party over heeeee-reee! )

Yay! Birthday! :)

There were pretty yellow roses with pinkish-orange tips on my desk when I came in this morning (from the lovely woman I work with), and our French tenant from next door brought me champange. I got phone calls from my mom and my sister this morning singing to me, and a text message from Megan in Africa. Not to mention all the IMs and LJ-love. Plus, this weekend I get to hang out with some of my favorite people, and not work at all!

In short, no matter how anti-birthday and cynical I pretend to be, I always love the world just a bit more today.

Tonight, it's dinner with the fam, and then possibly a little Groundhog Day when I get home. You know, the usual. ;)
evergleam: (my bubbles!!)
I had a pretty low-key and enjoyable birthday yesterday. Thanks to everyone who sent me good birthday vibes, you don't know how happy that kind of thing makes me. :)

Everything went pretty much according to plan. Classes went by pretty quickly, and I got to spend a few hours on the couch with The West Wing and Groundhog Day before everyone came back to go out. We went out for food and strawberry maragaritas and cheesepie, and then came back here to play Clue, even though I totally spaced about halfway through and stopped trying to win.

Aster gave me a cool Gryffindor-colored scarf and Chris got me the cutest shirt EVAR!!1! ;)

Pictorial proof. )

And Racheal gave me the Peacekeeper Wars DVD and Simpsons Gone Wild (!), but not til after I took the picture. But they're awesome, too! :)))

This weekend Megan's coming up and we're going out to dinner tomorrow night, and then Saturday we're having a birthday phenomenon for us cool people with early February birthdays. So yay!

Also, have you all listened to American Pie today? Cause you should. I was gonna upload it, but YSI isn't working anymore, so...go turn on a radio. I'm sure someone's playing it. :P

Plans for tomorrow/today include going to class, class, work, and more class. Spending a few blissful hours not doing homework of any kind, and then going out for margaritas and dessert-y things with my friend-type people after Racheal and Aster get out of class. Also, to watch Groundhog's Day at some point, cause I think it's the best idea ever to repeat my birthday over and over and over. ;)

Yay!
evergleam: (beautiful day (dtissagirl))
I just thought I would share. I had a lovely birthday. I love my friends dearly.

I spent most of the morning at the MVA waiting and working on my resume and reading Virginia Woolf. I was there about an hour and a half before they called my number. But I have a shiny new license! And I do mean shiny. And new. Maryland's licenses are different than they used to be, and much shinier. :) When I got back, Racheal had taped balloons and crepe paper to my door. It will probably say "happy Z1" on my door until I move out. ;)

My mailbox was stuffed with cards from a couple of my aunts, a really sweet friend of mine from my Twain class last semetster, and two from my grandparents (one of which bore a check for quite a lofty sum), as well as a bottle of massage oil from James & Laura. One of the cards was from Dean Sayre, reminding me to be safe on my 21st birthday, because he wants me to make it to 22. Cause you know, I party so much. :P Anyway, after that I had my four hours of class. We read our bad fiction stories in creative writing, which was entertaining. I had a quick TV meeting after class, which unfortunately was less productive than it could have been, but that was pretty much all my fault. I didn't do all the stuff I said I would do, and I was in a rush to get out of there so I could go to dinner. Ooh, but when I came back Laura had bought me pretty flowers and put them on my bed!

Rac, Christina, Mark, James, Laura, and Hugh came with me to the Olive Garden for dinner. We gave James & Laura their anniversary present (which we picked up at Condom Kingdom in Philadelphia on Saturday :P), and Christina gave me a pair of really pretty earrings that I unwittingly picked out at the cool store the other night. Rac gave me a t-shirt that has this giant pimptastic car on it with the caption "My other ride's your mom." So great! Dinner was yummy, and I ordered my first legal drink (which was the girliest thing EVER). Our waiter was so cute, he brought it out with a bunch of fruity things attached to it, and a candle lodged inside a lemon. It scared me, though, cause I didn't see him coming and all the sudden there was fire next to my hair. :P After Olive Garden waiters singing to me and bringing a yummy dessert, we all came back to the apartment, and Mark hung out downstairs with me and Rac for awhile.

My sisters left me a message on my cell phone. They sang happy birthday to me, and rambled about how they loved me and hoped I was out having fun, and it was the cutest thing ever. I nearly cried, cause I'm a big emotional baby.

So, between all that fun stuff and all the AIM messages and LJ comments and phone calls and messages from my family and friends (and three from Greg!), I think it's safe to say that this was a great birthday. I feel lucky. :)
evergleam: (daffodils)
It's my birthday!!!! :-D

I woke up to lots of happy messages from my favorite people (and one from Christina, who has already called me Stankonia and Shithead in the fifteen minutes I've been awake :P). Stew sent me this poem by Woodsworth:

I WANDER'D lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host of golden daffodils,
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretch'd in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they
Outdid the sparkling waves in glee:—
A poet could not but be gay
In such a jocund company!
I gazed, and gazed, but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

So yay! I'm gonna go get me a new license now, and then I have class from 1:50 to 6pm. Quick TV meeting and maybe dinner, or maybe just hanging out around here.

(Oh, and also cool, but obviously less important *winkwinknudgenudge*, today is [livejournal.com profile] _vorobey_ and [livejournal.com profile] _freyja_'s anniversary. So yay again!)
