I wasn't quite prepared for this episode. I'm not sure I really like the idea of the Doctor taking such a famous historical figure to see their impact on the world, and that song montage was a bit out of place on a show like this, but I can't deny that the meandering melancholy of this episode, or the raw emotion in those final scenes, cut right at me. I guess I can't I blame the Doctor for wanting to give this impossibly sad man something to hold on to.

VINCENT: Hold my hand, Doctor. Try to see what I see. We're so lucky we're still alive to see this beautiful world. Look at the sky, it's not dark and black and without character. The black is in fact deep blue. And over there! Lighter blue. And blowing through the blueness and the blackness, the wind swirling through the air, and then shining, burning, bursting through - the stars! And you see how they roll their light. Everywhere we look, complex magic of nature blazes before our eyes.

DOCTOR: I've seen many things, my friend, but you're right. Nothing quite as wonderful as the things you see.

I will miss you terribly.

The sky effects were gorgeous! Everything about that scene, from Vincent's impassioned speech to the quiet music to the Doctor and Amy reaching for each other at the same time - just GORGEOUS.
