I'm starting to think I'm spending too much money on my newly acquired concert-habit. I blame Ashley. Just because I can.

Set list:
Marching Bands of Manhattan
New Year
We Laugh Indoors
Why You'd Want to Live Here
Crooked Teeth
Lightness
Photobooth
(something i didn't know)
Company Calls Epilogue
I Will Follow You Into the Dark
Soul Meets Body
I Was a Kaleidoscope
We Looked Like Giants
Transatlanticism

Encore:
Your Heart is an Empty Room
I'm Going Home (Sonics cover)
Sound of Settling

Overall, not the best show I've ever seen. I don't think these guys were meant for such a large audience. Everything was so frenetic and rushed, I feel like they fit a two hour set into an hour and a half without meaning to. The only time they slowed it down was I Will Follow You Into the Dark, (which was gorgeous, so I know they can do it), and even Transatlanticism was faster than it should have been (though, okay, still pretty awesome). Anyway, I probably won't pay money to see them again, unless it's really super cheap. Or at a much smaller venue.

So, next concert. To see Damien Rice, or not to see Damien Rice. I'm still pondering.

Megan's coming home from Africa for a mini-vacation in December, and I'm kind of nervous. I know she'll still love me no matter what, but I haven't really been the best of friends since she left. I've called her once, sent her a few emails and text messages, but that's it. I've tried, I really have, but it's hard to come up with stuff to write to her about when my life feels so incredibly empty compared to what she's doing out there. What am I going to say? "Hey, it was great hearing about your 30 mile bike trip to villages all over Africa, guess what happened to Jim and Pam last week?!"

Anyway, I don't think I can make it up to her, but my newest idea is to fill up a journal of some kind with pictures and ramblings and stuff like that, and give it to her with strict instructions not to open it til she gets back to the bush-country. Though, for this to work, it means I've got to get started this weekend, so we'll see how that goes. Anyone have any ideas on other things I could fill a journal with? I have a feeling tales of coffee and law offices will get boring rather quickly.

I can't believe we're already two weeks into November. This year has gone by so fast. I really wish I had something to show for it.

[livejournal.com profile] saava and I are going to see Damien Rice in December. I, too, feel like I've been spending too much money on concerts. But after that show, I'll probably have a break for a while since I can't really think of any bands I would really, really want to see that I haven't already.

I think the journal is a neat idea. Maybe you could put in some random stories about the two of you? are there things she doesn't have in Africa? maybe you could include pictures or stories about those.

Every time I think it's the last concert for awhile, something else really awesome comes along. I've heard really good things about Damien Rice. I want to gooooo.

Old stories are good, actually. I came across some old notes we used to write too each other, maybe I could paste some of those in, too.

Go see Damien Rice! And take me with you! Seriously, what are the details? I have it very good authority from someone who has been to dozens of concerts featuring amazing bands that Damien Rice was one of the best.

How about Thai cooking, Busch Gardens, and concerts?

Also, since you're facing up to being a bad friend, I know I can too. I really really want to talk to you, but this week is really hectic and busy. I super duper triple promise to call next week. What's your work schedule?

It is on a Saturday. December 16 at 8pm I think, do you really want to come down twice in one month? :p The tickets go on sale tomorrow, so let me know quick, eh? ;)

Next week I work every night but Thursday. Well, I'm not working Wednesday, but I made plans with Stew, so. :) If you're around Thursday, I'll be around. Also, Sunday night, too.

Blame me, eh? It's alright, I'm used to it :P

I think the journal is a good idea. Unfortunately I do have to work this Saturday, otherwise I would have totally stayed home and forced you to work on that journal! After you get off of work, cook your favorite meal, put on your favorite music, and start that journal making :)

I wish they had played Summer Skin (or Postal Service :P ) but you are right...I Will Follow You into the Dark was beautiful with the lighting, and him solo...

That actually sounds like a lot of fun. Plus, with the discount and the wall of journals at B&N, I shouldn't have trouble finding something I like.

I wish we could just see Postal Service on tour. :p Stupid not actual band stupid.

Go see Damien Rice and tell me all about it, since the man will apparently never come to Florida.

I do want to see him, especially since he was supposed to be at the Fiona Apple show I saw, but ended up leaving the tour the show before the one I saw. :p

GO SEE DAMIEN RICE. Then I can live vicariously through you since he rarely comes up to Canada.
