I have such disjointed thoughts about this episode. I mean, seriously, I'm trying to type up episode reactions and it's basically a list of bullet points from all over the place. First of all, I think it was considerably better than Kanes and Abel's, and that's something new and exciting this season, but it could just be because 1x17 is so arc-y that it doesn't hold up so well on a rewatch.

But here's how I know things are looking up: my roommate asked me this morning what I thought of the episode and said that little by little her faith in the show is being restored. She hasn't been excited about the show since the season premiere, (because Ashley is one of the pickiest and harshest judges around, for serious), so this is a good sign.

See, and I don't even know where to start. Wait, who am I really kidding here, yes I do. That was probably the best V/L interaction ever ever ever. It was all I've ever wanted out of the two of them. They were friendly! And snarky! AND THEY WENT ON A STAKEOUT TOGETHER! And there was the dancing and almost-forehead touching and UST and seriously, can they just stay like this forever? Well, okay, not forever because then they'd be Josh and Donna and I don't think I can wait seven years for Logan and Veronica to resolve their sexual tension, but still. Can it at least stay like this until the end of the season? Oh, and Veronica? I just need to say one teeny little thing, and then I'll keep my mouth shut, k? Duncan never looked at you like that.

(And okay, not that I don't like that song that they danced to or anything, but seriously? Does RT always have to be so freaking literal with all of his song choices? They might as well have been dancing to "I've Had the Time of My Life.")

Anyway, other things. What exactly is going on with Woody Goodman and feeling Logan up and the phallic cigar and the crazy? He's such a weird character, I get this totally creepy evil Mr. Rogers vibe off of him, you know? This season's mysteries are so convoluted at this point that I couldn't even begin to speculate what he does or doesn't have to do with the bus crash, but something weird is going on. And did I mention the crazy?

Actually, [livejournal.com profile] _jems_ said something in her post that kind of brings everything together for me a little bit. All I could think throughout the whole Beaver/Mac debacle was who exactly molested Beaver? I was thinking maybe his gay gay gay brother, but [livejournal.com profile] _jems_ threw out the idea that maybe Woody's a pedophile and it could have been him. Which would explain a lot of crazy behavior from several different parties in this episode. I'm not sure how that would work exactly, though, because how would they have any contact with each other, especially considering Dick didn't know who Gia Goodman was in 2x01. But, something to mull over.

Oooh, but how about Weevil the detective and his wistful Felix!flashback? Good times. I've never loved Weevil more than when he was yelling at Molly Fitzpatrick about loving Felix. Except all the extras in the background sucked and totally flinched about two seconds too late. But still, Weevil's really taken a page from Veronica's book, he knows all about how to manipulate someone into doing what he wants. He's just a bit more ruthless than she is. :p Also, who were those kids in the van and how is that going to come back and bite him in the ass? Oh, oh, also! Is the Felix mystery solved? It can't be solved, right? It couldn't have been Thumper working for the Fitzpatricks because it's too neat, and when you think about it, it doesn't make a lot of sense. If it was the Fitzpatricks, it would have been planned out at least a little bit, right? Premeditated? And Logan happening to be on that bridge that night and managing to knock Weevil out and give them an opening to kill Felix was just chance. I still think it was a powerplay and it was Hector. He could have hopped onto Thumper's bike. Though, I guess that doesn't make too much sense either, unless he was biding his time to get Thumper out of the way, too. I don't know, the whole thing doesn't make a lot of sense.

And speaking of, this show can get really dark sometimes, but I knew it wasn't dark enough to just outright kill Thumper. I was watching, and sitting there thinking, the Fitzpatricks wouldn't have left Thumper somehwere, they'd have just shot him in the face the end. But then, yeesh. Not so much with my whole "not dark enough" theory. :p For a second, I thought the construction worker guy was going to find his body laying somewhere, instead of the bike. Oh, see, that's another thing, why destroy Thumper's bike if he killed Felix? Well, I guess to eradicate any ties between them and him, but that doesn't make much sense either. So. Convoluted.

As for the rest of it, well, my eyes sort of glazed over during all the Wallace stuff. I don't hate Jackie anymore, but that doesn't mean I care about her. And I certainly don't care about him dumping his waste of space girlfriend for her. Bleh. I'm all for Wallace getting his own storyline and all, but can't it be a better one than this?

But heh, how cute is Logan's tribute to his departed best friend? ;)

Oh, and? I'm fairly certain this cap just replaced this one as my favorite. Because. Yeah.

In conclusion: When something stops being important to me, my memory gets a little fuzz--wait. Who are you?

I had more to say, but that was already really long. :p

Hee. I like that cap too. I love Logan's little belly; he always juts it out. So cute, and when you add that to the sleeve thing? In the same cap? Yay!

Dude. Reviews can never be too long. What are you talking about.

The sleeves really clinched it for me, I think. Because, the whole episode he was in some really ugly clothing, or that tight-fitting stuff he's been wearing lately that shows off his arms, but here he was finally back in his big comfy long-sleeved stuff.

Oh, that and the eye contact. Yeesh. I'd forgotten how much I love them. :p

Heh, I really could have probably written a whole lot more. Maybe I will later. :p I missed my show!

Oh I'm not that harsh, am I? hehe.

The Stakeout together? FabUlous! You were right, the high five was absolutely adorable. So glad Team Mars-Echolls is back on cases (sort of).

What exactly is going on with Woody Goodman and feeling Logan up and the phallic cigar and the crazy?
OMG that was creepy. I seriously thought Woody was about to try and make out with Logan...seriously.

As for the Beaver/Mac ordeal....I thought two things. Either Beaver is steal "traumatized" from when Dick tried to get him to have sex with Veronica, or Beaver himself is gay. I don't know. Woody being a pedophile could make sense, especially with the fact that he "hit on" Logan (if that's how it is interpreted) in the episode.

For some reason after the stadium collapsed, I didn't think Felix was actually in the stadium for some reason. I thought if they were going to kill him, they would have shot him, stabbed him, something more "quick" I guess. But hey, if that's how they killed him...then that's how they killed him.

The episode really made me like Jackie. Maybe she is the "Logan" of this season. They make you hate her character right off the back...but slowly they make you like her? I don't know. I started to slightly like her more and more, but was still on the fence. But I definately couldn't hate her in this episode.

I don't like the Fitzpatricks role in this season. Or maybe I'm just being bias b/c I don't like it when shows me The Irish the bad guys :P

And yes Logan was adorable as always :)

The stakeout was awesome. They should team up more often.

See, I think Beaver was acting more like a victim of sexual abuse, rather than someone who's simply in the closet. Dick, however, I could totally believe is gay. It doesn't necessarily have to be Woody that molested him, but I really think someone did.

And I'm with you, I think in real life the Fitzpatricks wouldn't have gone with something so theatrical to kill a guy, they'd just kill him. But I guess this way makes for better television. I'm okay with that.

As for Jackie, well, I still don't get what the writers were trying to accomplish with her. Because if they just wanted to reprise Logan's whole arc, well, I think that's kind of dumb. I think she's just been very poorly written this whole season. But what else is new? :p

I couldn't stand wallace in this one. I thought he acted totally un-wallace, and that made me angry. Granted, I'm glad he ditched the blonde, but the way he did it, and the way he went after jackie totally wasn't his style.

I still want to know what's up with the DVD Woody was sent... obviously it wasn't his gardener who took the video, and I'm just wondering what more there is to it... how does it implicate him? curious, curious.

Logan's interaction with Gia Goodman at the dance? hilarious. I loved every bit of that scene. And Veronica and Logan dancing made me grin. a lot.

What was it Beaver said to Mac at the end when he walked away from her? I missed it and I'm worried that's why I'm still so confused about it. I was thinking the whole time he was just being careful out of respect for her or something like that, but the interaction they had was just... so sad. It made me want to punch him for the first time. But I don't think he's gay. Molested, maybe. gay, no.

I loved weevil so much in this episode. soo much. I've always loved him, but that scene with Molly just made me want to give him a big hug. Of course he would never let me, but I'd try it anyway. So when is Veronica going to have a sordid and unspeakable affair with him? goddamit.

And Jackie? OMG she was awesome in this one. I thought she was great in every little thing she did. She kinda reminds me of Veronica's transformation from 09er to the awesome sassy girl we've grown to love. What was up with the guy she took to the dance? or really what I mean is, what was up with his mom? I don't care, what she did was so sweet. I'm slowly growing to adore her.

I'm just as disjointed in my thinkings as you (ok, more than you), but I was totally waiting for you to post about this last night so I could have someone to discuss it with.

oh, well it's just some thoughts about this season I found a bit interesting. I'll quote the main part here, from [livejournal.com profile] eirefairie:

And if you spoil me, you die.

So. Woody Goodman. I was trying to figure out what his deal was, and I was talking with Sarah about him. See, the thing is, I figure someone's going to have to come out of the closet soon, right? I mean, homosexuality (repressed, expressed, celebrated and hushed up) has been a big thing this season. We've had, what, six?, episodes with some sort of homosexuality A-plot or sub-plot. And I'm thinking, well, there's got to be some payoff, right? I mean, I feel like they're laying the groundwork for something, right? And so a lot of people are all, "Woody! Gay!" (equal, I think, to the number of people saying "Beaver! Gay!"), but here's the thing: I wasn't mildly amused by Woody's blatant hitting on Logan last night. I was creeped the fuck out. And when I was watching the video taped of his house, I was struck by the prominence of the large group of pictures of Woody's Little League teams, and I made a mention to Sarah about how I remembered that Woody was coaching that team of kids who got in the fight with the poor kids. And then Sarah made a comment, like, "well, maybe he did something to some of those kids." (We were trying to figure out why someone would have made that tape.) And then that got me to thinking back to Never Put Baby in a Corner, and, like, that whole Goodman family tableau. At the time, I think most all of us were blaming Littlest Goodman's OCD on his hyper-controlling, Celeste Kane-esque, mom. But what if it was a response to abuse? And what if that abuse was perpetrated by Woody?

It just seems like, you know, Woody's going to be important, obviously. But he's obviously the red herring for the whole bus crash thing (I think). So what if it's something else? I mean, why go so far as to show us how obviously screwed up the Goodman family is in NPBiaC, an episode that focused on child abuse, if nothing comes of it? I don't know, I'm just speculating, really. But there's obviously something on the tape that Woody doesn't want anyone to see. I realize that we're supposed to think that it pertains to the bus crash, but what if it's something else?

Yeah, I didn't really like Wallace in this either, and that made me sad. I'm okay with him being not perfect and all, but I don't like him being a jerk. It just seems very well, Un-Wallace-y. :p

Hee, Logan and Gia was one of the best scenes all season. Gia's annoying, but so damn entertaining. They should bring her around just to be weird and ditzy more often. Especially if it leads to more scenes like THE DANCING. Guh.

I had to rewind my tape four times to try and figure out what Beaver said to Mac and I still couldn't figure it out. Apparently he said "Good luck in life." Weird way to break up with someone, I think. I really don't think he's gay, either, because he really seemed to be into Mac. There's got to be abuse somewhere down the line.

I love Weevil lots, I never realize how much I miss him until he shows up again. I couldn't figure out what was different about him the entire episode, until about halfway through I realized he'd ditched the leather jacket. Poor little Weevs. You'll think he'll go back to the PCHers when this is all over?

Heh, sorry it took me so long to reply. I got sidetracked at work, which sucks, because I'd way rather be discussing VM. ;)

I think for me it's this one, because omguh, they were hot last night. Can they get back together soon please? I really enjoyed the episode, it made me *want* to ship Logan and Veronica, something that an episode hasn't propelled me to do *all season*

Oh, that one's pretty awesome, too, but you can't see his hands on her waist, and that was a lot of it for me. Also, they aren't looking at each other yet there. Really, though, the whole scene made for some fabulous screencaps. ;)

Hi. :)

Yeah, I really like the theme of crazy Neptune parents this season, especially contrasting them with Keith. I can't wait to see where it all goes.
