There's a dead mouse in the back room by the filing cabinet. And I hate to be a girl about it, but I so totally am, because ew. Just, ew. Thinking about it is just, ew. Ew ew ew. And I have work to do and now I don't want to do it because ewwwww. I can't get back to the filing anyway. Ugh. Stupid old downtown buildings. Yuck.

::shudder::

Okay. Stop being a girl. Yes. Ick.

Anyway. New year and all that jazz. Racheal came down from NJ this weekend and we went downtown for First Night and fireworks, and there was much fun to be had. I missed pretty much all of the other festivities this weekend, though, since I had to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, which totally and completely sucked, let me tell you. I would have had to work last night, too, but someone at work took pity on me and switched shifts with me. Which was all fine and dandy until I remembered I was supposed to hang out with Garrett on Wednesday. Grar. But still, it was nice to be able to sleep in and sit around in my pajamas most of the day yesterday and not have to worry about being on any sort of schedule. And it was nice being able to spend at least a little bit of time with my friends, since I feel like I never see any of them anymore.

Christina and Skyler came over yesterday and we went to see Brokeback Mountain. It sort of broke me, and I kinda knew it would. I was fine after the movie, and then Chris and Skyler dropped me off at the unit, and I went upstairs and just started bawling out of nowhere. It was a little weird. I choose to blame the sad gay cowboys.

On the way back after the movie, Chris and Skyler were discussing it, and I was sort of sitting in the backseat very quietly trying to let it soak in, and Skyler turned and asked me what my favorite part was, and I said it was where Jack and Ennis meet again for the first time after their summer on Brokeback. He asked why and I couldn't really tell him because I didn't know.

But the way Ennis hugged Jack right in that moment, the way he dropped all pretenses, the way he intiated contact because he couldn't stand for a second longer to not be touching Jack; the way he was happy for the first time in four years, for one of the only times in his life, I think that's the moment where the movie broke me. Because I knew and they probably knew somewhere too, that it wasn't going to end well for either of them, and just watching them embrace with a sense of hopefulness and foreboding at the same time, well, that was my favorite part.

I'm not sure if I want to see it again, or if I'll buy it when it comes to DVD. The acting was of course amazing (who knew Heath Ledger had it in him?), and the scenery was gorgeous and I loved the whole thing, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to handle watching it too many more times.

I have a huge fandom-y post of fun in the works, but I thought my first post of the year shouldn't be about television. Instead, dead mice and gay cowboys seemed more fitting. :p

But hey. Scrubs tonight! I missed the Braff. For now, though, work. And avoiding the back room until my boss gets here. Yuck.

ETA: There were two of them. And my boss finally got here and took care of them. Ugh. Who knew I was such a girl, right?

Everytime I use the bathroom at your work, I see that mousetrap and it grosses me out. Now you have dead mice by your filing cabinets? You know I'm never going to venture out of that front reception area ever again.

It's GROSS! I never want to touch anything in the back because I know that mouse has been all over it, and now ew. YUCK. And Nick's still not here and it's still back there and ew. Yuck. Gross.

Everyone in my office went to the Governor's Press Conference thingy today. I don't know when they'll be back. Ah well.

So that's dumb. They make you come in to do their work and then they aren't even there? Boooooo to them I say.

But tomorrow I will be traveling all around the World in the sunny land of Florida, and they will not.

I'm planning to buy it on DVD. I really want to hear the commentary.

Oooh, good call. I hadn't even thought about the commentary. Now I really do want to see it again.

Speaking of, have you watched the Serenity commentary yet? I haven't and I'm wondering if that should be on my agenda for tonight.

I did. It's mostly Joss going "look how pretty my actors are!" and "look how pretty the lighting is!" Nothing groundbreaking, but worth a listen if you're doing other things at the same time.

Hmmm, maybe I'll watch it tonight while I continue cleaning my room, then.
