i saw sparks
Sep. 7th, 2004 02:45 amI saw Garden State for the third time today. Still love that movie. I have plans to see it with Stew next weekend.
It was Aster's birthday, so we had a quasi-girly shopping day before the movie, even though about halfway through I remembered that I don't really like doing girly shopping things and kinda gave up. But I lasted longer than I normally do, so that's something. Chris and Rac bought her very sexy lingerie and I baked her a cake. And then the four of us and Mark went to see Garden State. And I totally had to restrain myself from singing along with all the songs, since I've been listening to the soundtrack almost exclusively since I bought it a couple weeks ago. It was kinda sad. Also, I figured out that the biggest problem I have with the ending is the fact that I don't get that happy contented sigh-feeling at the end of the movie, because the smackyouovertheheadhappyending just makes me angry. So it ruins the great feeling that the rest of the movie gives me, and I'm more bitter than I should be.
It's been an exceptionally long weekend, I'm really not ready to go back to class tomorrow. Luckily I only have one, and then tomorrow night is our first TV meeting, and I'm hoping against hope that it goes really really well. I want this year to be great, I have some ideas for shows and I want other people to put forth an effort, too. But you know, that doesn't always happen, cause people suck.
And I totally didn't do any of my homework this weekend. Such a great way to start off the semester. Although, anything different would just be too unlike me. :P I think I can get away with not having finished the reading tomorrow in class, cause it's all lecture, but that won't be the case the rest of the week.
Oh, and hey! I saw Hero last night. Everyone who says it's visually stunning is not lying. But for me, that's really all it had going for it, cause the plot was a little more than lacking. Also, I still can't figure out why Chinese people used to know how to fly. And walk on water.
I'm gonna go to bed now, cause it's 3am and this post has been more than just a little schizophrenic.
But, hey. Happy birthday, Jeff. ;)

Date: 2004-09-07 10:00 am (UTC)And Hero was visually amazing. I kinda like the whole flying and walking on water thing, seems to me like it's a legendary thing where people are magical and superhero-like.
also, you haven't voted yet so I don't know who to post as the other BDH?

Date: 2004-09-07 10:36 am (UTC)And I liked the plot. A lot of people have gone to see it expecting an action flick, but it's not. I like the legendary aspects of it (okay, the floaty fights got a bit annoying by the end...).
Also, I like the very wu-wei moment of doing nothing, when it it really counts.
Sorry...if you didn't like the plot, that's fine. I just get a little carried away sometimes. :)
