Buffy - Dirty Girls
Apr. 15th, 2003 11:03 pmI need to say this. Cause I can, so I'm gonna. :)
So, okay. I was spoiled for Xander's little mishap. I didn't want to be, but I found out about from Greg a few hours before the ep aired. And at first, I was just kinda upset, you know..."Oh, poor little puppy Xander, no!" But then I kept thinking about it. And I got really annoyed. Because well, you know that really great, sweet scene with Dawn from "Potential" where they have a heart to heart and you think how much you love Xander? Not sweet anymore. Just foreshadowing him losing an eye. And God, it made that whole speech he was giving about fighting and trusting Buffy so much worse for me, knowing it was gonna happen, and not being able to say anything, cause no one I was watching it with knew about it. At least I wasn't worried about him dying. Cause as soon as he was finished, Chris said "Aw, Xander, honey, you're gonna die."
From now on, I don't talk to Greg on Tuesdays. ;) At least not until after Buffy has aired.
Other random thoughts:
Xander's fantasy in the beginning was priceless, and immediately reenacted by Christina and myself at the first commercial break. Yay for slow-motion pillow fights. Haha, and I loved Xander's "leg cramp." Good times.
What's up with Faith's scratchy voice? Does Eliza have a cold or is this her way of showing that Faith is all grown up now? I dunno. It just kinda bugged me.
Are you the bad slayer now? Am I the good slayer now? Priceless. Also, Spike being hung up on being like Angel, cuteness indeed. I can't wait for the broody boy to make an appearance. :)
I liked the scene with Faith and Dawn, I really liked the camera there, the way they wanted the audience to realize that Faith and Dawn have never been onscreen together before, but are still supposed to know each other. I had been thinking the same thing in reference to Oz recently, if he were to say, randomly show up to help fight the big bad, how would he react to Dawn. But oh wait, he's supposed to remember her.
And hey! First Evil Buffy looked way cuter than real Buffy. I liked the playfulness.
I'm still not sure how I feel about Caleb. I want to know more about him. It's kinda odd that they just introduce this guy five shows away from the end of the series, and he's the one behind all the chaos that came before...I dunno. I'm interested in seeing how it pans out.
Okay, so it really really really annoyed me that Buffy knew she was walking into a trap, and did it anyway. WHY????????? Stupid stupid stupid. Just because Wood said to test the girls, you lead them knowingly into a trap? I dunno. Bitterness abounds. Mostly because it led to poor Xander's eye getting gouged out.
I heart Andrew. That is all.
Wood looked really good for a guy who just got beaten to a bloodly pulp a few days ago. :P
It could be a stapler.
I still love you, Giles, even if Buffy doesn't. :)
Also, why was Anya MIA? Too busy making out with Giles offscreen? ;)
So yeah. That went on way longer than I thought it would be. But it was fun. Maybe someday I'll dabble into writing real, coherent, true English major-y thoughts about the show. But probably not. :)

Date: 2003-04-16 12:26 pm (UTC)I agree with your interpretations though....I pondered on if Buffy did know this was a trap, why did she take her "most" experienced slayer wannabes? To weed out the weak ones?? And as for Spike/Faith...I'll TOUCH THAT!! Can we say set up....but of course. Need Buff to show more jealousy...it's been years since she did that....nah I don't count the beginning of this season's bout...that was the first involved LOL
One thing I have definitely noticed is how Xan has grown up ALOT over the past 2 years....and actually if you watch carefully from the second season he was also the one in touch with emotions and situations...yah he can't get a girl to save his dweeby life, but he was always full of wisedom at the right times. I really enjoy his character and bawled last night at what happened.
Sorry for my long reply...hehehe..I get excited to share views on the show with others. Thanks!

Of course, that's only rationalization. It was probably just what you said about Eliza having a cold. Or something.
