Okay, so I made this icon. Not beautiful, but it's a step in the right direction, yes? I don't think I'll ever be an icon-making fool or anything, but it's nice to know that if I put my mind to it, I could maybe learn how to do it. Photoshop is a major pain in the butt, though. It's a good thing Queen Icon-Making Fool lives in the room next to mine. ;)

ETA: Oh! I do have a question. How do you get an icon to save so that it doesn't come out fuzzy? I tried the Save for Web option, but I don't know what to do with it (obviously) because this icon still came out fuzzy once it was saved. Help, please? :)

Generally, you want the highest quality (if it's a JPG) or the highest number of colors (256; if it's a GIF). This'll make it look better (and make it take up more space...with a small icon, though, if you stay within whatever space cap LJ uses, if any, you may as well go full tilt). With photos, unless you're going for some sort of posterized effect or summat, you'll usually want to use a JPG (this one seems to be saved as a GIF, which might be the problem). Don't know how much that'll help you in the long run, and I can't really explain that much more without showing you. Chris can probably help you out with it, though.

Thanks, Noble! I saved it as a JPG, and that seems to have helped a lot. When are you coming to visit, foolio??? (I'm going to be asking you this until you come to visit, no matter how many times you answer. Just so you know.
