"it's just the way i smile", you said

In honor of my and [livejournal.com profile] winter_baby's complete and utter work-related boredom, I bring you another round of the Movie Quotes Game. Come and play, and take your mind off whatever you're doing for a couple of minutes.

1. You know, I have this awful paranoid thought that feminism was mostly invented by men so that they could like, fool around a little more.

2.
-That's what they called themselves. The Clash, the only band that mattered. They called themselves that for a reason.
-It's amazing, isn't it?
-Like social justice...yeah, it's totally incredible.
-What [character name] gives to the world.

3. All you got to do is use your instincts. How do you think a lion knows to tackle a gazelle? It's written, it's a code written in his DNA, says, "tackle the gazelle." And believe it or not, in every man there's a code written that says, "tackle drunk bitches."

4. Maybe I wanna be sterile!

5.
-Weren't you frightened?
-Frightened? Child, you're talking to a man who's laughed in the face of death, sneered at doom, and chuckled at catastrophe... I was petrified.

6.
-It's just that with [character name] here, it's no wonder I always bring my flatmates out, and then that only exacerbates things.
-What you mean?
-Well, you guys hardly get on, do you?
-No, what does 'exacerbate' mean?

7.
-It's like touching your penis with your left hand.
-I don't have a penis.
-But you have a left hand.

8. Quit leering at me. People are gonna think I just broke up with you.

9. I'm gonna keep the coke and the fries but I'm gonna send this burger back. And if you put any mayonnaise on it, I'm gonna come over to your house, I'll chop your legs off, set fire to your house, and watch as you drag your bloody stumps out the door.

10. I mean, if I was ever going to buy a desk set... twice! I would probably buy this one, both times! In fact, its shape is rather aerodynamic isn't it? You can feel it. This desk set wants to fly!

11. Nobody drink the beer, the beer has gone bad!

12. It's supposed to be a challenge, it's a shortcut! If it were easy it would just be the way.

13. It made sense to pool our collective loathing for the opposite sex, and while we were at it, you get to share a bed with somebody at the same time. We were frightened of being left alone for the rest of our lives. Only people of a certain disposition are frightened of being alone for the rest of their lives at the age of 26, and we were of that disposition.

14.
-Thank you for saving my ass back there.
-You're welcome.
-Of course, when I tell that story, it's gonna be the other way around.

15.
-You said she was a spinster.
-I've never used the word "spinster" in my life. Okay, once, when I told my mother it was technically incorrect to call her son a spinster.

Other things:

--I finished Gilmore Girls S3. I thought I was going to stop inhaling GG after this, but now I kinda want to poke around for S4. After that I'm done, I SWEAR.

--I've been in a Robert Smith kind of mood lately, and I'm listening to Disintegration on repeat again. I think I've decided, though, that that album is more headphone-music, and requires a good book and a thunderstorm to be listened to properly.

--I keep having dreams about the same person over and over and over again, even though I haven't talked to said person in a really long time. I think my brain is telling me it's time to reconnect.

--I had pizza and a Veggie Tales sing-along last night. YOU ARE JEALOUS.

I think 6 is Shaun of the Dead. I'm probably wrong.

11 is most definitely Can't Hardly Wait. "I can't feel my legs. I have no legs!"

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Right on both counts! :)

[identity profile] typicrobots.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
6. Shaun of the Dead
15. Down with Love

And I know I know 1 and 14, but at this moment, I don't.

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Hot Fuzz was the one that was killing me on yours yesterday. I knew I knew it, but I couldn't come up with it. :p

But yes, right on both! :)

[identity profile] lazerbug.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
#13 - High Fidelity, Rob Gordon speaking

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Right, of course! :)

[identity profile] unhappyending.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
#14 is from Slither, isn't it?

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Totally! Had to sneak the Fillion in there somewhere. ;)

[identity profile] unhappyending.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
w00t! It's one of the movies I've watched more recently, despite having had to watch it alone because it scared [livejournal.com profile] bellanut too much. *G* I really liked it, though, it was super funny and, of course, Fillion is hot.

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee, that's right. I saw your Fillion picspam! Did you get to watch any of the features? I thought some of those were funnier than the actual movie.

[identity profile] sihaya09.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
6 - Shaun Of The Dead -- Watched it last night!
8 - Dogma
9 - One of the Bruce Willis/Matthew Perry movies. Whole 9 or 10 Yards. They blend for me.
13 - DAMMIT, I've watched this recently, and I can't figure out which movie it was. ARGH.

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you know how many people I talk to that have never seen Shaun of the Dead? It's SAD. I keep lending out my DVD and I want to watch it myself. :p

9 is the first one, because I've seen that movie way too many times. I think I've only seen the second one once, though.

Someone else guessed 13 if you're dying to know. ;)

[identity profile] sihaya09.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
YES. HIGH FIDELITY. I watched it on Saturday.

[identity profile] sarkastic.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
6. Shaun of the Dead. I just watched that!
8. Dogma, between Ben and Matt. Heh.
10. Dead Poet's Society

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Got them all!

I haven't seen Dead Poet's Society in *forever*. The quotes game always makes me want to do a movie marathon. :p

[identity profile] evemac.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
#3! Dude, how has no one got #3? It's 40 Year Old Virgin. Obviously I should have gotten home earlier though, so I could have guessed #6. I love that line.

And aaaaah, I know ALL of the others I just can't place them. Especially #2. I KNOW THAT LINE.

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I was starting to worry no one would get it! :p

You *do* know #2. I tried to pick something from that movie that wasn't too obvious, but I'm afraid I might have gone too obscure. :p I love that scene, though.

[identity profile] evemac.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND!

I GOT IT! I KEPT THINKING, AND THINKING...

IT'S THE DUNST AND MARK RUFFALO! HIGH!

[Sorry for capslock.]

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
DING DING DING!

[identity profile] selfcontained.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
The only one I knew was 6!

14 sounds AWFULLY familiar, though. I know I've seen the movie, I just can't remember it right now.

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I love how much everyone on my flist likes that movie. The people I talk to in real life all the time have never even seen it. :p

Also! It's your birthday, isn't it? Happy birthday! :)

[identity profile] selfcontained.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
It is! Thank you!

Also, I did know 10, but once I saw it crossed out I stopped reading. Silly me! But I love that movie. Awwwww, so good!

And... reading the comments now: HA, SLITHER. I knew it was familiar. Is that why you're using this lovely Nathan icon? Hee hee.

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen DPS in forever. Every time I watch it I am *shocked* at how not well at all poor Ethan Hawke is aging. :p

I thought I'd give you a little hint! :)

[identity profile] nightchik.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
10. Dead Poets Society

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Hiiiii, I misssssss you! Are you back back yet? :)

And yes!

[identity profile] disc-sophist.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
#5 is the Wizard of Oz! I'm shocked no one got that. I thought every American had that memorized by age 5. Or maybe there just aren't enough Pink Floyd fans out there...

Also, I have GG Season 4; I just finished it myself. Completely addictive, and let me tell you S5 will be a requirement as well (It's ordered and on the way). I have it on DVD, or if you just want to DL, the whole season is here:

www.megaupload.com/?f=2UAZ4W76

(Not my link, so don't share it about? Thanks, m'dear.)

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, so that's my very favorite movie ever made, and I may have cried just a little if no one got it. :p

Thanks for the link! My computer is still with my friend, but he called me this afternoon and I haven't called him back yet, but I'm hoping it's good news for me! :) I thought I was going to need a Gilmore Girls break, because I feel like the nine straight episodes I watched Monday night might be a little excessive, but now I'm done with S3 and I still need more, so apparently not. :p

[identity profile] dramacomic.livejournal.com 2007-06-14 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally missed this yesterday in my friends page browsing, but luckily you posted a link to it in your current entry, which indicated that no one got #4 which is most definitely Empire Records (although the way he says it is probably without an exclamation point, in my opinion). Do I win?

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2007-06-14 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
YES YES YES! THANK YOU.

I was really upset that no one got that. I could recite that movie start to finish for you right now, I think. My manager at B&N and I text messages quotes from that back and forth all day. I hope it's just the exclamation point that threw people off. :p

[identity profile] dramacomic.livejournal.com 2007-06-14 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! You're welcome. Empire Records is definitely always on my top ten list. Your manager sounds awesome.
