1. The movie meme, for
bellanut has commanded it so.
1) Total number of films I own on DVD/video:
31 DVDs, 12 boxsets. I have no idea how many videos I own, other than it's a pretty high number, especially taking into consideration the insane number of Disney movies we have at home.
2) The last film I bought:
Wonder Boys. (I love this movie. So so so much.)
3) The last film I watched:
Run Lola Run. I'd actually never seen it before. I think I really liked it. (Also? The guy who played Manni was really hot.)
4) Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me, not necessarily in order of importance. (Heh, like Steph, I have no self-control! Also, an untter inability to make decisions!):
01. The Wizard of Oz: This has been my favorite movie since I was six. For a few years I only received Oz paraphernalia for Christmas and birthdays. I have boxes and boxes of the stuff in storage somewhere. I've probably seen it upwards of a couple hundred times in my 22 years of life. :P
02. Garden State: It's a pretty recent addition, but this movie definitely affected me a lot more than I thought it would. There are a bunch of things that have always bothered me about it (notably the last thirty freaking seconds), but the overall I do love this movie. The first time I saw it I had just talked to my mother about her moving yet again and my sisters moving in with their dad and realized that I didn't so much have a home to go back to anymore. So the scene in the pool where Andrew talks about family and missing an imaginary home? Definitely had me in tears in the middle of a darkened theater sandwiched between two friends. I don't cry anymore when I watch it or anything, but I still love it. Plus, you know, it's so pretty.
03. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: This movie kills me in the ohmygodican'tbreathe kind of way. And for that, I love it so. The music, and the cinematography and the dialogue and gah. LOVE. Plus, it has some of my favorite Hollywood types in it, including my #1 girlcrush, the fabulous Kate Winslet. (Also, I like to think that Elijah Wood's character kind of mirrors how he is in real life.)
04. Dead Poet's Society: I've been watching this movie for years, and I never stop loving the characters. Even stupid Meeks. :P Also, I never get over how young Ethan Hawke is! We used to put on DPS in the band room during lunch sometimes, because it was one of two or three things Mr. Van Dyke would actually let us watch.
05. Say Anything: I don't think I really have to explain this one. Every girl in her right mind has wanted her very own Lloyd Dobler at some point or another. And if not, well, thhhhpppp.
06. Dogma: Besides Wizard of Oz, I've probably watched this movie more than any other on this list. Not so much cause I think it's the best thing ever as it's one of the few movies everyone I know can always agree on watching. Plus, you know, I never get tired of watching Matt Damon complain about how tiresome mass genocide is. ;)
07. Good Will Hunting: The first movie where I went, heyyyy, who's that guy? I've been in love with Matt Damon ever since. ;)
08. Death to Smoochy: I LOVE this movie. I love Ed Norton, and I love Jon Stewart, and I love how darkly hilarious this movie is. Plus, it's so colorful! Loooooove.
09. High Fidelity: Totally. This movie has a million wonderfully quotable lines, and I love John Cusack (I watched Identity for that man!). Plus, I think it was the first thing I ever saw Jack Black in. And he's a funny guy. :)
10. Beauty and the Beast: My favorite Disney movie. I've always loved Lumiere since forever and ever (or you know, 1992) and I think it's one of the better made modern Disney movies. Though modern doesn't seem to really fit, as it's already part of a long-gone era in Disney movies. But whatever, I still love it.

So, I've had a lot more time to think about the finale. And I've come to the conclusion that I'm just not happy with the identity of the murderer. I've already talked a little bit about why, so I'm not going to go into it much here. Honestly, that's been talked about ad nauseum anyway, so there's really no need.
In my fantasy world, though, Celeste would have been the murderer. It would make so much more sense, and the emotional impact would be far greater (well, for everyone except Logan). Celeste would have had motive--the kind that's a lot more cold and calculated than Aaron's was. In my head, it would have played out like this:
--Celeste comes home from the hotel after a blowout with her husband to find Aaron's car parked outside.
--She goes inside to hear shouts coming from by the pool. When she goes out to investigate, she sees Aaron and Lilly awfully close together, fighting over the sex tapes.
--Aaron sees Celeste and calms a bit, and pretty much storms out without a word.
--Celeste, already incredibly agitated at the very least, goads Lilly into telling her what's going on, or otherwise deduces that the two were having an affair. Then, in much the same vein as Veronica's imaginary murder scenario from 1x17, Celeste knocks Lilly over the head with a blunt object, killing her.
--Celeste realizes what she's done, hides the murder weapon, and runs out of the house to her car. She returns sometime later when Jake has also returned, and the two find Duncan outside cradling his dead sister.
For me, this would fit so much better. We already know Celeste is kind of a heartless bitch, or at the very least, that she didn't approve of anything her daughter did, especially since Lilly didn't fit the image of what the Kane family should be. It brings everything back to the Kanes in a way that redeems Keith and Veronica, and imagine what it would be like for Jake. He spends a year and a half and billions of dollars covering for Duncan whom he believes to be the accidental murderer, and then endures a stint as the number one suspect only to find out that his wife killed Lilly and let him mistakenly place the blame on his epileptic son. Everything would come full circle, and the clues we were getting all year wouldn't seem like a waste of time.
Part of me still hopes this will play out in some way, cause this is so totally the type of show that would drop a bomb like oh WAIT! here's the real killer bwa ha HA! in the middle of some other investigation down the road. But I'm not really that delusional. Since Aaron Echolls-as-killer is now canon, I really don't have much choice other than to just accept it and wait eagerly for the delicious angst this will bring in S2.
As for next year, I was thinking earlier about how I'd like the first episode to go. First day of school senior year, Logan took off early in the summer and no one knows where he went (and there's nobody left to put a $50,000 bounty on his head!). Logan's absent from the entire episode save for all the flashbacks of the fallout from early summer. Somewhere near the middle the new mystery is presented and Veronica starts in on that. The last scene is in the Mars Investigations office, with Veronica sitting at the desk completely engrossed in her computer. We hear someone come into the office, but we don't see them until Veronica and the camera look up to see Lynn Echolls standing there--I need you to find my son.
It would be so, so awesome.
3. I may have an in for a job in Annapolis. I may also be able to afford to move in with Ashley sometime in June or early July. This makes me very, very happy.
4. Plans for the week include: a Firefly marathon, making Aster watch ESotSM with me cause OMG I've been trying since September, packing, getting my car looked at finally, watching the rest of S1 Arrested Development, and maybe attending sporadic senior week events. Weeeeeee. :)
That's all for now. Expect a detailed concert report and a pic!spam sometime later this evening. Maybe tomorrow.
