So.

I went to Gettysburg last night with Ashley and Brock to film some psuedo-scary stuff for a new segment of The Wire. Racheal tagged along and it was generally a good time. Hopefully the footage will turn out to be something interesting. We basically walked around and made up our own ghost stories about all the buildings. My favorite was when we walked by some townie who was talking to his girlfriend with some disdain about all the tourists on ghost walks, saying something along the lines of how people love to "feast off the dead" this time of year.

Although, Gettysburg does have this whole aura of creepiness attached to it. We managed to find ourselves on High Street, supposedly one of the most haunted places EVAR!!11, at midnight on Halloween, and I wasn't so much unhappy to leave as quickly as possible. I think it's in part because the town still has this old-time feel to it, so it really isn't hard to imagine the piles and piles of dead soldiers in the streets as you're walking up and down them.

Today was gorgeous and unseasonably warm. Aster went with me to see The Wizard of Oz at the Arts Center, which was so much fun. I got to see it on the big screen with lots of kids in costume who were all excited and singing along. (So much better than the last time I went to see it at the movies, when my friends made fun of it the whole time--Bonnie, I'm looking at you!) I ate my leftover meatballs from the other night and generally lazed around on the couch when I got back. And Megan called me around 7, and we talked for about an hour and a half, another one of those conversations that last longer than they seem to. We made a date for some quality Heather-Megan time for Thanksgiving weekend. I miss that girl.

All in all, it was a nice relaxing day, except for that whole half hour where my grandmother yelled at me on the phone for voting for Kerry and not Bush, basically giving me word for word the reasoning that the Bush campaign has been using--the terribly misguided and misleading reasoning. She also managed to call Teresa Heinz Kerry a slut and said she wouldn't want a "foreigner" to be the First Lady. Me? I mostly tried to refrain from CRYING because she was SO WRONG and wouldn't just drop it. I tried not to fight with her on it, but she kept spouting this stupid stuff and I had to say something, and then she'd go on for longer and it just really upset me. To the point where she could actually tell how upset I was and apologized for it, which is something she rarely does. I called my mother afterwards and she made it better.

Anyway, have you guys heard this? It's Christopher Walken reading The Raven. You really really should download it if you are a fan of either Poe or Chris Walken. And really, how can you not love them both?

AND, the Redskins lost! So take that Bush-loving grandmother of mine! It's funny, because when she finally could tell she'd upset me too much and tried to change the subject, she started talking about how the 'damn Redskins' lost again today. I know she doesn't know about the statistic that says this means Kerry will win Tuesday, so I pretended to lament along with her. (It is slightly sad for me to have to root against my home team like that, especially in a family like mine, but for the sake of America, it had to be done.)

Megan and I were talking about local politics a little and we were trying to figure out who to vote for our local Representative. Steny Hoyer has been my Rep for longer than I can remember, in fact longer than I've been alive I think, but she says she really doesn't like him, so I've been trying to figure out exactly why. I've been looking at his site and at Jewitt's site, the guy who's running against him, and I can't really tell much about either of them, beyond the untruths that all candidates publish on their websites. I ran across this which really makes me want to not vote for Jewitt, though, but I dunno. I don't think it matters much either way, because Steny Hoyer's been around so long that he'll get re-elected on name recognition alone.

You know? I think I'll be so much happier when this election is just done and over with. Seriously, you guys.

(Man, I really want an icon of Jon Stewart that says "Not your monkey" on it right about now.)

Grrrrr, work sucks. I've run out of things to say and I still have an hour and twenty minutes left. Entertain me?
