Everyone's watching the Super Bowl. I can tell whenever a team makes a good play, cause the floor starts vibrating from the shouts of the Sig Ep apartment downstairs.

I am not watching the Super Bowl. I am also not doing the work I'm supposed to be doing. Instead I took a hot shower and danced around in my robe for a few hours.

I didn't do any work this weekend, either. Friday night was hectic, in that I got a speeding ticket for going 73 in a 55 (which I swear wasn't my fault. Really.) and then proceeded to get lost taking Chris and Aster to the swing dancing place, because we accidently copied down the wrong directions from the website. Luckily, the police officer that pulled me over was very adamant in suggesting that I take it to court which suggests to me that he has no intention of showing up and therefore the ticket will be thrown out. So that's the plan there. And we were lucky with the dance thing, too, because a Boumi Temple man and his wife actually had us follow them to where the dance was really being held, which was totally cool. Then Megan and Racheal and I ate in Towson rather than trying to drive over to Baltimore since it was already so late.

Yesterday was the Birthday Phenomenon™. Mark managed to get about 20 people together, and we went to Arundel Mills and ate at Chevy's. Mark and I got cool sombreros and complimentary ice cream, which was, of course, quite fabulous. The Jillian's thing very quickly became rife with confusion and drama, so we ended up heading back here. I randomly ran into Stew at Arundel Mills, too, which made me incredibly happy because I hadn't been able to get a hold of Megan and everything was confusing and I was worried as I tend to get when I can't get a hold of people for long periods of time, and he made it all better. So yay for that. And eventually I did find Megan and she came back to Westminster and we watched Garden State last night and all is well.

We all went out to breakfast this morning before Megan left, and then she and I went to Record & Tape, which is my favorite used CD store ever. I bought the new Ani DiFranco CD and No Doubt's Tragic Kingdom (for $3.99!) because a friend of mine stole it from me years ago and it made me mad that I didn't still have it. So now I do.

So that's the weekend update. I have a feeling I will be up most of the rest of the night working on homework.

Things that absolutely have to be finished tonight:
-- 300-word character sketch for Dirda's class
-- One-page reaction paper to McGee article which I also have to finish reading
-- outline my informal 3-4 page paper on Aristotle/King
-- skim the Derrida comic book thing for sem
-- write two focused free writes for my Latin America class
-- read something by Leon Portilla for L.A. class

Also due in the next few days:
-- news article for Latin America
-- finish Cat's Cradle so I have some idea where I want to go for my sem paper
-- read three chapters of Dirda's book
-- write 3-4 page informal paper on Aristotle/King
-- presentation on psychoanalytic crit for sem (which, thankfully, everyone already understands)
-- at some point start reading 100 Years of Solitude, which sounds so much better as Cien aƱos de soledad, but I'm not reading it in Spanish

And there's more, but that's about as far ahead as I'm thinking at the moment. So, I should probably stop procrastinating at this point and get to work, huh?

So. Yeah.

Is the one you bought "knuckle down"? (and if it's good, could I copy it?)

Yes! And yes. ;)

I listened to it a little in the store and liked it a lot, but I haven't put it on yet and listened to the whole thing.

They have little booths set up where they promote different CDs all the time. Some are local and some are lesser known and some are just really good, but I always go over there and have a listen.

They used to have a whole listening station where you could just ask one of the people working to hook you up and you could listen to anything before buying it, but I never did it and I don't know if they still do it. But they might. :)
