i'm all for a telethon, but only if you donate a portion to me too. that'll be the first topic at the next meeting, hehe.
everyone has told me the Grudge isn't worth seeing, but i'll probably go see it for myself anyway. when i first saw the previews, i totally thought it was for Ring 2. maybe girl ghosts with long black hair is in right now?
it's weird you speak of the Shining, b/c i totally saw that "newer" version on TV today, not the old one with Jack (which is 20 times better anyway), but the version that came out like 10 years ago i think. I would tell you to watch that one, b/c it's totally not scary at all, and that way you can make it to the end...but the ending is kind of different and really cheesy, so don't even bother.
