Hello All,
Having spent much of the past weekend contemplating the vagaries and vicissitudes of life, I returned to Westminster and, in a fit of pique, added some more entries to the ever-expanding links segment of the course page.
One of the characteristics of my seminars - this one especially - is a certain lack of structure and form. You might ask yourself why that is; am I simply too lazy to put in the necessary time (hum, an attractive, comfortable explanation), do I not have the foggiest idea of what we are doing (admit it - that thought has flashed across your mind - I know it has mine), I'm part of a large, global conspiracy to sap the intellectual strength and stamina of America's youth in preparation for a leftist, pinko, hippie, anarchist coup de tat (not likely - but it's fun to fantasize), the question, or issue if you prefer, of structure and learning is, somehow, at the core of what the course is about (oh my God, learning as a process of self-direction - aarrgh [this past Saturday was "talk like a pirate day] Marshall Mcluhan's 'the medium is the message'?) - I don't know - the answer is lurking out there somewhere.
Anyway, I'm a bit hesitant at this early stage to be too formulaic about such things. What I do ask, expect?, is that you all will read and explore the stuff on the links pages - if you find something interesting that I've not listed, email me with the address and I'll post it - or disseminate the address by email.
Finally, I realized that in our discussion of the mechanics of the letter writing process I omitted something important - I need?, want?, request a copy of your letters - photocopies, originals, email - I don't care about the form - I just need copies.

Now, imagine a stocky guy with really short legs, reddish-brown hair that's thinning on top and always pulled back in a long ponytail, with really thick glasses and big muppet-like eyes. Who also thinks he's a pirate. He definitely makes Thursdays interesting, if nothing else.
Back to doing my homework and working in the library and not reading Goblet of Fire. And also making fun of the obnoxious fratboy types who come in the library with their baseball caps cocked to the side. I wish I could wear my hat like that. It's soooo fashionable.
