honey honey honey will you ever see?

THERE IS SNOW EVERYWHERE. I have spent the entire day in my pjs, dancing around my house like an idiot, wrapping presents, watching Psych, and generally enjoying not having to feel guilty for not leaving the house. :D

These are just from a few hours ago when there was still light. IT IS STILL RIGHT THIS SECOND COMING DOWN. My whole house will probably be buried when I wake up in the morning. I may never be able to leave again.

That's my car. Almost completely lost under the snow. THAT'S gonna be fun to dig out tomorrow. :p

It's just that we almost NEVER get this much snow, and certainly not this early in winter. IT'S EXCITING. I'm supposed to pick my roommate up from the airport tomorrow afternoon, but somehow I don't see that happening so much.

Wow! That's a lot of snow! I really want to show these pictures to the Frenchies.

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2009-12-19 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
IT IS! It's at this point just about up to my knee against the back door. With no signs of stopping!! Those poor Frenchies wouldn't know WHAT to do!

SNOWPOCALYPSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Aaaaaahhh I went outside earlier and went sledding down my driveway, SO AWESOME. This is easily the only time that has been possible in 13 years of living here. I'm sure I would feel differently if I were one of the people stuck in a snow drift on the Beltway right now, but oh my God WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE. STAY HOME. Hahaha, did you go to the supermarket on Friday when everyone was gearing up? I have never seen so many gallons of milk out in the wild.

Are you sure your roommate is still arriving tomorrow? Everyone I know had their flights cancelled.

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2009-12-19 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
We haven't had real snow in YEARS. This is pretty amazing. I did go out last night for some food, and the shelves were pretty wiped out. Which always amuses the crap out of me. WHAT DO THEY NEED WITH FOUR GALLONS OF MILK, SERIOUSLY?? I mean, are they really going to pee THAT MUCH? :p

And yeah, I have a feeling she's not going to make it. She's coming from Portland, and is supposed to have a layover in Chicago, and I already know people who have been grounded there until Monday. But so far there's no word on her flight one way or the other.

SNOWMAGEDDON!!

We've got 20" in Frederick and they're saying 2 feet by the time it's done. I just can't help but hope OPM closes the government on Monday because we're not gonna be dug out any time soon.

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2009-12-19 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, my co-worker in her Suburban is going to have to come get me on Monday if they expect me to come in. Which they will. I own no snow-digging-out tools whatsoever. :p

I'm already sick of snow for the season (but I always am - yay New England!) but you being so adorably excited about it makes it better :)

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It never snows! If it does this more than this one time this winter, I will be sick of it, but it's fun the first time. :D

[identity profile] delenn-xi.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Ha! I should move down there then! How much did you guys wind up with? We got about a foot. It was the nice fluffy kind though, so shoveling wasn't too bad.

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it was between 2 and 3 feet, depending on where you are. Most of the state is still shut down, but I've been at work the last two days. BLARGH.

[identity profile] delenn-xi.livejournal.com 2009-12-23 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man that's a lot! Boo to your work not shutting down with everyone else :(

[identity profile] bluegreensmoke.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad I'm off this week so I can just stay inside and admire the pretty. I'd throw out my back if I had to dig out my car tomorrow, I know it.

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
JEALOUS. I've been staring at my car out the window all morning attempting to stave off the inevitable. UGHHHHH.

[identity profile] roxyoi301.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
my neighbors were awesome and dug out my car last night! so i was able to move it to let the snow plow move and plow my spot. but i'm stranded here since john is using my car for work. his car and all the cars parked along that line are absolutely covered and it is going to take forever to dig his car out. i don't think it has been this bad since '03?

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
SIGH. We have a neighborhood association who thankfully shoveled the walk, but I still haven't figured out how I'm gonna get the car out. :p

Yeah, I can't remember a huge snow storm like this since college. Sophomore year. It was the first time Rac ever snowed down a hill. ;)

[identity profile] singingrl.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
We got about a 14" up where I live, luckily someone else did the shoveling for a change so I got to sleep in. I get excited every time it snows, I love the way the world looks when there's a fresh coat of snow on the ground. Good luck digging out!

[identity profile] evergleam83.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehehe, luck you! :) We have a neighborhood association, and they shoveled most of the walks for us, but we had to get our own cars out, because the plow never made it until sometime yesterday! :p

In March of '03 during my tenure in Boulder, we had a snowstorm of epic proportions... something like 3.5 feet over 2 days in the metro/burbs... parts of the foothills and mountains got 7' with 11' drifts. Colorado is used to snow and it never sticks around more than 3-4 days, but that was just insane. The whole state was shut down, so we made the best of it. My bedroom was over the garage and faced the street, so I opened up my window, pointed my speakers outside, and put on some Buena Vista Social Club while we went outside to drink spiked hot cocoa, dig out the cars, and throw snowballs. Great memory. :)

We just really don't get opportunity for that kind of thing around here much! The last time I remember getting any sort of paralyzing snow here was also way back in 2003 or so. Knee-high snow made the half-mile trek from my dorm room to the awesome snow-sledding hill nearly impossible, but totally worth it. I missed the snow!

Hey hey! Happy new year, Jeff! :D (Hee, Matt Pond PA just came up on my Pandora station.)
