I thought the ending was a little lackluster. It didn't pack quite the emotional punch I think it was going for.
I know what you mean, but I think that was their point. The whole thing is very deflated and anticlimatic because the characters felt deflated by the whole thing. I bought it as realism even though it might not have had a WOW! cinematic ending, because the war itself was anticlimatic. I thought it was honest in terms of what actually happened, if that makes sense.
It made me laugh my ass off. I thought that Highway Of Death recreation was one of the most chilling movie scenes I've seen in quite a while. Jake & Peter are both getting Oscar nominations out of this, I'm sure.
